Chairs! I Love Chairs! The Chairs of Juniper Hill

Saturday, August 25, 2012

We have really been finding some great chair frames of late, shopping for fabric has been so fun!  We use our creative minds most times, other times our chair fabrics are special ordered by our customers.

This absolute beauty is from the turn of the century...horsehair and all! Her beautiful carvings had me in a heartbeat!  Her arms are graceful swan heads, her crown is two birds and musical instruments....

She was snatched up by one of our sweet customers and we custom did her in the most beautiful blue Ralph Lauren linen roses and satin stripes! She had marvelous bones!
Here she is in all her glory!  Chalk painted and waxed, new stuffing, all glamorous in her new upholstery...all decked out !  She has had a new goose down filled cushion added, ahhhh. a wonderful chair to sit and read in!  So comfy!  She wraps around you like a cloud!

The cording was done in a blue satin stripe to coordinate with the Ralph Lauren blue rose linen
Gorgeous rose garlands and a medallion decked out her graceful feet....
A pretty pillow was made to match the customers other chair fabric! So pretty!
Another chair was done for her:
This chair is a beautiful Ethan Allen frame, but needed a little "shabbifying!"sooo....we chalk painted her frame, gave her a little distressing and turned her into this:
Her fabric is a beautiful Robert Allen embroidered linen.  Ready for her coastal home in Texas!

Oh My!  We wondered how she would turn out!  She is a 1940s frame that was upholstered in the 1970s with an avocado striped fabric......we chalk painted her, heavily distressed her and turned her into this!
We added beautiful rose chintz, pretty pink check and some pink chenille, so comfy!
This duo was about to get a makeover also!  The came out so pretty! They turned into this:
We did her in pink rose chintz with a coordinating pink stripe cording, so scrumptious!
We touched her pink chalk painted frame with a little gold to make her shine...
And....
This beauty was done in a Ralph Lauren rose print linen...she turned out so pretty! She now has a new home in Washington State.
Two very Romantic chairs.....The rose embellishments say it all! both from Circa 1900-1920

How about this transformation?  A gorgeous frame from the turn of the century...
Very rough and tumble....we decided to paint her in Provence and deck her out in burlap with natural tack heads....
So gorgeous!  This chair would look awesome in a library or study....
This gorgeous chair is part of a set.....They now live in Florida at a fabulous day spa for women...
the fabric chosen was our Ralph Lauren blue rose linen...so pretty!
This is just a sampling of the Chairs of Juniper Hill!  We are always up to something.....we have many gorgeous frames waiting to be done....stay tuned for more chairs and special offerings!

Annie Sloan Paris Grey.......a fun day!

Monday, August 20, 2012

I decided I needed some time to play, playing for me is trying new paint colors and techniques!  I love the new Chalk Paint craze and decided to open up some cans that I stockpiled last year in anticipation of creating great things....now was the moment!  I have always been afraid of grey paint, but was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked the color on a small decorative side table that was lined up for painting.
The Paris Grey felt right for this dainty 1920s side table...I am a fan of heavy distressing so I sanded her down with a sanding block, allowing her to take on a personality of her own...
Once she was distressed in "all the right places", I took out my handy wax brush and went to town with some soft wax......I loved the way the wax darkened the Paris Grey.....just the shade I was hoping for....
and then......
Tres Chic!
Using Paris Grey, Annie Sloan chalk paint on this pretty little table was the Saturday afternoon adventure I was in need of!  She came out so pretty!

A Little Slice of French Countryside...Magnifique!

Sunday, August 5, 2012

I have been totally enamored with the combination of pink and green.  The warm earthy feel of Versailles soothes my soul....then an a touch of pink and some French stencils and I am hooked!  We found a gorgeous turn of the century sideboard that was screaming for some updating....and updating we did!  She stood a full 48" tall and was 54" inches across.  The detailing on her was conducive to a little sprucing up!
We left her gorgeous oak top in it's natural state, giving it a light sanding, stain and wax.  Her side detailing was quite pleasing to the eye....
Of course a touch of pink on her side detailing made me happy! Layered and rubbed to shabby perfection!
Her feet ornamentation was begging for a little pink too! I said yes!
We shined her inside and out.....
And added some pretty striped paper in her drawer bottoms...
We enhanced her beautiful back splash with pretty Fleur-de-lis...
Added some gorgeous crystal knobs and French stencils here and there.
Magnifique!
